According to Ethiopian Airlines officials, their Boeing 737 flight traveling to Nairobi Kenya, crashed soon after taking off from Addis Ababa claiming the lives off all 157 passengers, the airline said on Sunday morning.
The aircraft, flight number ET302, went down near Bishoftu, southeast of Addis Ababa only 6 minutes after takeoff. An airline spokesperson told CNN the victims were of 35 different nationalities. 32 Kenyans, 18 Canadians, 9 Ethiopians, 8 Americans, 8 Italians and 7 UK nationals were among the passengers.
The pilot was a senior Ethiopian Airlines pilot who had flown more than 8,000 hours. He had an "excellent flying record," according to the CEO. Read more on this tragic story here.
