Charges against a the High School of Commerce in Springfield, Massachusets have been dropped. On December 3rd the student was arrested by school resource Officer Angelo Marrero who said in his report that the student shoved him in the hallways of the school with two hands.
A video of the incident has since surfaced which tells a different story than that of the Officer Maerror. In the video the student appears to make a comment to Marrero as they pass in a hallway before Marrero pushes him, grabs him by the back of the neck and shoves him against a wall.
In a statement to internal investigators about the arrest, Marrero said that he had genuinely believed in the moment that he had been shoved -- and that any discrepancy with the video was accidental.
“At no time did I ever have the intention to write the arrest report of [redacted] in a manner that could be perceived as deceitful nor did I write it with the intention of being deceitful,” Marrero wrote, according to a copy of the Internal Investigations Unit report obtained by MassLive through a public records request.
