Lauren London announced that a construction project dedicated to her late fiance Nipsey Hussle has began around the plaza houing her late boyfriends clothing store "Marathon Clothing."
Construction crews erected a chain-link fence on Thursday around the L-shaped strip mall in South L.A. where Nipsey Hussle lived out his dreams โ and where he was gunned down on March 31.
A 8-foot-high fence is around the parking lot and Hussleโs store, The Marathon Clothing, which has turned into a tourist attraction but has been closed since his death. On Instagram, the lotโs owner explained that the decision was to start the โearly development stages of the forthcoming Nipsey Hussle Tower.โ
However, there also have been concerns about safety. The Los Angeles Police Department has increased patrols at the lot, and has been working with the property owner to install lighting and other measures after some tourists were robbed and officers made several arrests for gun possession.
The instagram post read "As a notice to the public, we're putting up a gate on Thursday, August 1st, 2019 to enclose the plaza at 3420 W. Slauson Ave to start the early development stages of the fourthcoming Nipsey Hussle Tower to commeroate [sic] and honor the life and legacy of Nipsey,"
