During his recent chat with Jimmy Kimmel, actor and late night host Alfonso Ribeiro expressed his displeasure with being asked to perform the "Carlton Dance" all the time by fans.Â
When asked about how it must feel to constantly be badgered about the dance, specifically if his annoyance rises to the level of "wanting to kill people," Ribeiro said, âYou know, I wonât say kill, but I donât have a love for it like they do, you know?â
âI typically get asked to do the dance pretty much every day of my life if I go outside. If I go anywhere, itâs like, you know, I just randomly hear people, âDo the dance!â And youâre like, âIâm...Iâm not dancing for you, Iâm a Black guy, Iâm just not dancing for you. Itâs not gonna happen.â
Kimmel expressed how people wanting him to perform for them like that is a "weird inclination" to which Ribeiro responded, âThe weird part for me is trying to understand whatâs happening in their head,â he said. âLike, what makes you think that you just gonâ ask a random person to dance for you, and theyâre gonna be like, âOh my God, Iâve been waiting for you to ask! Hold on a second, lemme get into character?â Like, itâs notâŚI donât get it, itâs not gonna happen."
