A Missouri woman who claimed to have contracted a sexually transmitted disease during sex in a car has been awarded $5.2 million from the car insurance giant Geico.
According to reports, the woman's ex-partner was insured by Geico who she took her claim to about contracting HPV while having sexual intercourse in her then-beau's vehicle. The company claimed that her issue wasn't covered under the policy. However, she stated that he knew of his condition beforehand and the risks of unprotected sex.
As a result, an arbiter determined the car “directly caused, or directly contributed to cause” of the STD transmission. She was subsequently awarded $5.2 million from Geico after the man was found liable for not disclosing his infection.
