Dave Chappelle has been getting much backlash for his newer material that addresses comments he made about the trans community. His latest Netflix release spoke on why he passed on his old high school’s theater being named after him. Previously, a show Chappelle was schedule to perform at in Minneapolis was canceled after protests broke out against him. Now, Chappelle has popped up in New York with Chris Rock and Kevin Hart, as the comedian opened for the two on their tour.
Chappelle opened for for the two comedians while at Madison Square Garden, and reportedly fired off jokes about cancel culture. One comment found Chappelle saying “Had to sneak my way in here,” which was a reference to his canceled show. Along with that, Chappelle went on to say “despite what you may have read about in the news, I’m okay, and I appreciate the support.” The comedian then talked about his Hollywood Bowl ordeal, while clowning his security detail for “sliding all over the place like at a bowling alley.” Watch above.
