The trial of three men accused in the fatal shooting of rapper XXXTentacion began with opening statements at the Broward County Courthouse in Fort Lauderdale Tuesday.
New footage has surfaced in the XXXTentacion case showing the slain rapper withdrawing the $50,000 that was ultimately robbed from him in the armed robbery turned murder.
According to CBS News, XXXTentacion "had originally sought to withdraw $250,000 from a Coconut Creek Bank of America but the branch didn't have that much cash on hand." X's assailants reportedly planned to identify and target victims in South Florida and only ran into the rapper by happenstance.
"Their plan was to rob someone that day," state attorney Pascale Achille told the jury. "They had firearms and masks and the capability to do it."
She continued, "Trayvon Newsome and Michael Boatwright began communicating" with the two others outside in the SUV," Achile said. "They see he's a celebrity."
