Over the last two years, Issa Rae has built a fan-base on HBO, curating one of the network’s biggest series behind Game of Thrones. With season 3 of her hit Insecure series in development, she has already inked a deal to record her second official series on the network. According to Deadline, Rae will serve as an executive producer, with author Angela Flournoy penning a script.
The show is set to center on an African American family during the ’90s of Los Angeles; which will tackle racial tension, gang violence and the aftermath of the LA Riots after four officers were acquitted of beating Rodney King. Look for Issa, Angela and HBO to share formal information early next year, including show stars and a possible premiere date.
