Sometimes the worst of a situation can turn into something great. Josh Stone, former NHL draft pick turned his luck around by turning to what always gave him comfort, MUSIC!
“Music in general influenced me before games. I would listen to 50 Cent, and Eminem, Biggie, 2pac, and Dipset were probably the music I listened to most”
His love for music pushed him in the direction to be mentored by Public Enemy artist Chuck D. Chuck D helped mold Josh Stone and pushed him to build his brand.
“After meeting with mentor Chuck D at Russel Simmons art for life foundation in summer of 2017 he told me that the industry was becoming more about “building your own brand”, and it needs to be something that represents me. At the time it was about “good vibez only” or “positive vibez only “I’d see everywhere, and it clicked one day to me that I only want REAL energy around me.”
Real Vibez Only is not only Josh Stone’s brand but he has since created a production company using the name. Because Josh Stone has been influenced by so many different artists his production company is made up of artists that have different sounds all over the world.
“…a mix match between East coast and West coast production. It influenced my sound and style because I believe there should be a sound for everyone on a body of work…”
The debut of his production company is out now, showcasing the melting pot of artist Josh Stone has chosen. The name of the EP is “Real Vibez or No Vibez”
“The first release “Real Vibez Or No Vibez” is a team album. It’s me and my team of artists. Jecare from The Bay, Swiv from Harlem, Relly from the Bronx, and Rose from Queens. All production is done by Vekz Madison, The Heatmakers, and Myself.”
The debut EP embodies how Josh Stone has completely turned his situation around and is now giving other artists an opportunity to build their brand.
