Kolo lands fresh in our pages today with his newest installemt to his The Basement FIles series that have provided a play-by-play of the Nigerian-born, but Atlanta-living artist’s journey from the bottom, which culminates in his newest release The Basement FIles, Vol. 4. He favors a wide variety of productions, able to talk his shit over any instrumental thrown his way and glides through melodies with ease and this can be credited to his dynamic taste in music that has sprawled across a number of genres since he was a child and borrowed elements from each of these styles that makes his sound what it is today. I look forward to seeing where Kolo continues now that his ‘Basement’ series has subsided and much of the project deals with the pressures of success and the difficulty to remain consistent, and its consequent perseverance. Since the release Kolo has been steadily gaining traction daily across TikTok and a number of other social media platforms and I am eager to see the directions that Kolo takes his sound in for the rest of the year and beyond.
