Harlem native Trips SOG’s rise is a testament to consistency and perseverance. Born on the Eastside of Harlem, known as El Barrio, he later moved to the westside with his father The World’s Greatest Entertainer, Doug E. Fresh. Growing up with such an iconic father led to young Trips being among Hip Hop legends such as Slick Rick, Big Daddy Kane, Biz Markie, and more. Always maintaining his appreciation for the art of Hip Hop led to him honing his creative talents and pursuing a career in music. Trips began by meshing what he learned from the OG’s and combining it with the new wave. Aside from his musical talents, Trips also picked up on the business acumen of his predecessors and launched his own record company, Square Off Records, signing fellow artists and producers. One of whom is Mike Davis, who went on to produce and feature on records with Keke Palmer, Fabolous, and Meek Mill. Trips also signed a joint venture deal between his label and Meek’s Dream Chasers for Mike Davis but Meek was later arrested and Trips shares: “We appreciate him for recognizing the talent and giving us an opportunity.”
As an artist, Trips’ catalog of music as part of the Square Off collective has led to him being on tour with the likes of Meek Mill and MGK, while also collaborating with the likes of Teyana Taylor, Corey Gunz, and ASAP Rocky. The latter whom Trips produced a track on Rocky’s breakthrough debut album. The constant workhorse, Trips has been in the lab putting together new material and now he unveils his brand new visual for the single “I Can See It.” Produced by Lvrboy and Directed by Trips and Diego Vara, the track lives on his project “Rewards,” which is a continuation of his previous release “Risk.” Check out the video here and stream "Rewards" which is currently available on all digital streaming platforms.
