A true depiction of the zeitgeist, Lit Reeezy speaks to the moment on the life-affirming stance of “ For Them We Stand (feat. Andy)”. Quite a personal track for Lit, for as an American of Iranian descent, the plight of protestors throughout Iran speaks to his very soul. The fight for human rights in Iran has been going on for decades but this moment in time feels different. For one the youth of the country are the ones most up in arms, trying to assert their need for basic human rights. His lyricism speaks to them, and offers them support from afar. With an arrangement that deftly highlights the importance of his verses the whole track has a harrowed, reverent presence.
The ambient washes mixed with classical elements start things off with a hushed awe. Vocals here soar all the way up to the sky seemingly looking upwards towards a greater power. Despite the subject matter, he infuses the sound with a sense of hope. With this message of togetherness, the piece rolls on through, thanks to the attention to the gorgeous low-end. Bass rumbles gain an emotional aspect for the buildup of the work has a symphonic bliss about it. More than a must volume is a given as this is a track that deserves to be felt as much as heard.
Lit Reeezy spits verses with such heart on the truly powerful “For Them We Stand (feat. Andy)”.
