Julian’O Combines Wild Series of Styles on the Versatile Flight Attendant

Julian’O does not let any one genre define him on the sprawling “Flight Attendant.” The number of styles incorporated into the mix ranges from dubstep, R&B, soul, hip-hop, trap, rap, jazz, and more. Above all of these mind-melting approaches, his voice contains multitudes – from love to defiance, from running the streets to relaxing at home just having a respite from the rat race. Songs neatly blend for the album and arebest taken in as a whole to get that full-bodied, ornate universe he explores with a razor-sharp focus.

Setting the mood, “Pop ‘em Both” has a burst of energy for the invigorating. Bass and handclaps blend to create a taut groove on the yearning “I Need More.” Tempos roll through with a casual pace as “Cum in Town” features Julian’O’s delicate lyricism, one verse balanced on top of the other. In “See Through,” he brings an implied space into the fray. “Ask Yourself” really requires subwoofers to get the whole experience with the song barreling through carefully. Easily the highlight of the album “Accompany Me” has horns introduce the track for the rest of it follows quickly after. Jazzy with a late-night vibe, the song feels completely gorgeous. Delicately summarizing all that came before “Trust This Wock” has a neon-hued splendor bringing things to a close.

“Flight Attendant” conveys the attitude of the up-and-coming free flow and freewheeling attitude of Julian’s.
