Simone Kelly is an artist and she’s sensitive about her sh*t. In a music industry where artists thrive off of the words and beats given to them, Kelly has chosen to take another route. As an independent artist, she is determined to use her pen game to differentiate herself from fellow singers.
Introduced to the music industry as a child, Kelly’s uncle was in a rap group, and allowed her to record song verses. Despite being ten years her senior, Kelly’s uncle was a big brother figure who helped her get comfortable with hearing herself and writing music. Eventually putting out her first record at ten years old, Kelly immediately fell in love with the music making process, but didn’t start taking it seriously until three years ago.
After a toxic relationship affected her self-esteem, Kelly got tired of doubting herself
and making excuses for what she truly desired to do. Since beginning her music journey, Kelly has found her tribe noting the chemistry and trust she has with audio engineer, Justin Erinn and producer, Thomas Crager. As a true artist, Kelly refuses to put herself in a box, stating, “I really hate genres because as a creative, you never really wanna be “labeled” in one category.” As Kelly prepares for her upcoming single, “My Person,” she wants fans to know that one day she will write about fairytales, but for now, her music is about healing.
