SALUTE Spotlight: 7 Independent Artists On The Move
It’s that time of the week again.
There’s so much great stuff going on with the independent music scene lately, which is exactly why SALUTE Spotlight is here.
The goal is to show some love, spread the word, and support independent music.
From upcoming albums to tours you won’t want to miss, it’s all right here for your convenience.
Bobby Mahoney and the Seventh SonEast Brunswick based hard rock band Bobby Mahoney and the Seventh Son have a seriously intense sound practically demands some moshing.
With two singles just around the corner, as well as a headlining show at House of Independents, fans should be ready to bring the hype and party all night long.
The two singles, “Another Dead Beat Summer” and “Empty Passenger Seats” have a nostalgic vibe to them while still feeling fresh.
Featuring some serious guitar shredding, beats to get the heart pumping, and well-crafted lyrics, these songs should not go overlooked.
Brooklyn born, New England Based hip-hop artist Maverik is definitely coming in hot on and gaining buzz in the scene. Back in July he released a video for his song “Whoa (ft. Samantha J).”
One thing’s for sure, the star DJ from JAMN 94.5 lays down some seriously catchy tunes.
“Whoa” is undoubtedly a choice summer party song, if the models partying on the beach in the video didn’t give that away. The track features Maverik’s unique blend of hip-hop and reggae influences, resulting in a song with so much replay value.
Maverik has quite the impressive track list, having opened for Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Common, French Montana, 2 Chainz, and many more.

The Centennials made their debut back in 2015, and have been rocking the New Brunswick show scene ever since.
The female-fronted indie rock band released their latest EP, Fin, on May 12, 2017, which is available on all major music platforms.
Despite the finite nature of it’s name, the EP is more so a tribute to the new life that comes after the closing of an old chapter, rather than an homage to the end itself.
The Centennials aren’t going anywhere, and plan on doing what they love for a long, long time.
Harrison Sands is a singer-songwriter from South California whose music speaks for itself. Sands combines the seductive edge of R&B with rap and various other influences to create a sound all his own.
Lyrically his songs are well-crafted and poetic, often carrying deeper meanings and socio-political commentary, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have fun tracks too
With a variety of singles, plus features on other artists’ songs, there’s so much to check out. His bio states that “he makes good sounds,” and that’s certainly not inaccurate.
The appropriately named London based artist, Jack London, (also known as Jack LNDN) should definitely be a name on your radar, especially if you’re into electronic and dance music.
London takes his influences from the world around him, letting life inspire his energetic, enticing beats and songs guaranteed to get hips swaying. His rhythm is tight, and his vocals are flat-out fun.
He’s packing some solid tracks to listen to when in need of a mood-boost, or whenever you’re ready to party.
John Pagazno Band
Haling from Atlanta, Georgia, John Pagazno band has a sound that is gritty, and good for your soul. Their newest album, One More Round, was released August 1, and is 100% worth the listen.
Lead singer, John “JP Blues” Pagano’s vocals are so good on the ears, and the bluesy vibe the songs carry adds a certain charm that will have listeners coming back over and over again. It’s no wonder Pagano, Shiloh Bloodworth andTony Hossri are so adept at their craft, as they’ve been in the rock/blues scene since the early age of 13!
With that much experience under their belt, it’s no surprise they’re able to knock out such rockin’ tracks.
Scene of Action
What do you get when you combine spine-tingling vocals, some 80’s electro influences, and pure rock?
The answer, if you were wondering, would be Scene of Action. The band is fronted by a man simply known as Monty.
Giving his work a listen, one can it’s amazing to hear how the inspiration he takes from the bands he loves meshes so well with his own unique sound.
His newest single, “Fire,” was released a few days ago, and it is definitely worth the listen.
