Rapper Meek Mill was recently given the key to the state of Connecticut for his work for criminal justice reform.
TMZreported that Mill was given the key before a concert at the Xfinity Theater in Hartford.
The key was put on a plaque that also contains a proclamation that declared March 19 as “Meek Mill Day” across Connecticut.
Mill became a symbol for criminal justice reform activists after a judge in Pennsylvania sentenced him to two to four years in prison for minor violations of his probation conditions in a decade-old gun and drug possession case. He spent months in prison before a court ordered him released.
