Framingham Family Gets to Ride on TB12 Duck Boat

Devin Suau and his family attended the Super Bowl Championship parade in Boston, but they may have had one of the best vantage points.

The Framingham family saw the million-plus New England Patriots fans at the parade, while riding in the duck boat with Super Bowl MVP Tom Brady.

Devin, 6, a student a Stapleton Elementary School was recently diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor.

A GoFundMe was set up for the family by his aunt, and in seven days more than $140,000 has been raised.

Doctors told the Suau family that Devin has a tumor known as Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG). It is a very rare and aggressive form of cancer typically found in children ages 5-9. Annually, only 200-300 children in the United States are diagnosed with DIPG, which has no cure. The tumor is located at the base of the brain and at the top of the spine.

Over time, it will impact all of little Devin’s essential bodily functions:  heartbeat, breathing, swallowing, eyesight and balance.

Today, Devin and his family rode in the Boston Duck Boat but this weekend he will be in the hospital having a biopsy to dtermine his treatment and a potential clinical trial.

The family is hoping that he will be the first to be cured and a hastag #WhyNotDevin has been started.
