High Winds, Pouring Rain To Lash Massachusetts Wednesday And Thursday

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A stretch of howling wind will overtake the Boston area and most of Massachusetts starting on Wednesday. A Wind Advisory from the National Weather Service has been issued for all of Massachusetts and all the rest of New England.

The agency is predicting wind gusts up to 50 mph across the entire state with some areas gusting to 55, beginning on Wednesday afternoon and lasting through the workday on Thursday. Accuweather says 60 mph gusts are possible.

The winds could down tree limbs and cause some scattered power outages, according to the NWS. In addition to the wind, the Boston area could see up to half an inch of rain on Wednesday.

The Steamship Authority warned that its ferries to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket could be canceled in the high winds on Wednesday afternoon and evening.
