Wendy Williams has reportedly been cleared of the diagnosis that led to her being placed under court-ordered guardianship.

According to TMZ, a neurologist who recently examined the former talk show host has concluded that Williams does not have frontotemporal dementia. The 61-year-old reportedly underwent a fresh round of neurological testing in New York, and the results directly contradicted the findings from 2023, when doctors first diagnosed her with the degenerative brain disease.

Williams’ legal team received the new results last month and now plans to file a motion within the next two weeks requesting a court hearing to end her years-long guardianship. If that request is denied, attorney Joe Tacopina told TMZ he intends to demand a jury trial.

The court-appointed guardianship, overseen by attorney Sabrina Morrissey, has governed Williams’ finances and major life decisions since 2022. Morrissey previously described Williams as “cognitively impaired and permanently incapacitated,” but the new test results could challenge the foundation of that ruling.

Williams has long insisted that she’s been unfairly restricted. In a January interview on "The Breakfast Club," Williams described her life inside an assisted living facility.

“I’m in this place where the people are in their 90s and their 80s and their 70s,” Williams said. “I have breakfast, lunch, and dinner right here on the bed. I watch TV, I listen to radio, I look out the window, I talk on the phone.”

The former talk show host also expressed heartbreak over being unable to see family members freely, including her 94-year-old father.

“I don’t know whether I’m allowed to fly to Miami to say happy birthday to my dad,” she previously said. “I’m exhausted thinking about, ‘What if I can’t see my dad for his birthday?’”

Williams’ family members, including her son, Kevin Hunter Jr., and ex-husband Kevin Hunter Sr., have also publicly questioned the court’s handling of the case.

During a March appearance on "The View," Williams said, “It’s time for my money and my life to get back to status quo.”
